Wendy Hersh

Wendy Hersh has been involved with Jewish music since her early teens. As song leader for 2 Jewish youth groups (NFTY AND USY) she honed her skills and built her repertoire.

For the past 12 years Wendy has been a Cantorial Soloist at Temple Beth Ami in Newhall and led high holiday childrens services at TBA as well as Congregation Beth Shalom in Canyon Country. She teaches Sunday school and preschool music at both synagogues and has lead the junior and adult choirs at Beth Ami as well. She and her choirs have performed at Purimfest at Magic Mountain and several Purim spiels over the years. Her junior choir was featured in a special concert honoring fallen journalist Daniel Pearl.

Currently Wendy has written songs and new melodies for the Friday night Shabbat service.  Her childrens song “Its Time For Shabbat”  is a favorite at tot Shabbat. She is recording her songs and plans to release a CD of Jewish music sometime this year. Wendy is also the co-founder of ‘Voices of Women’, co-writing and producing productions that highlight Jewish women of the Torah with her partner, Ter Lieberstein.

Over the years Wendy has performed on violin in orchestras and string quartets, sung in symphonic choir, toured the country playing electric bass in rock bands, done solo work as a folk artist, and most recently has built a following as a children musical performer. She released a CD of original childrens’ songs a few years ago. Songs from “Animal Dance and other Silly Songs” have been featured on airline inflight programs and the CD is a favorite in preschools and libraries.
